In the northern central part of the United States lies Wisconsin, and though the state is known for cheese and football, it is also one of the great and beautiful secrets of the country. Madison is a fantastic town if you have always wanted to live on a lake; the city itself was founded on what was then known as the Four Lakes Region. Part of Madison lies on an isthmus, bordered on either side by Lake Mendota and Lake Monona. Slightly south of the city are the other two lakes which gave the area its name, those being Lake Kegonsa and Lake Waubesa.
City living is just one facet of living in Wisconsin, There are plenty of lakes in the more remote northern part of the state as well, where there is plenty of hunting, fishing, and sporting to be had. Consider how you can move forward and build a life up north if you want something more remote.
